Bingo!  Together with your CONFIG.SYS that shows EMM386 and
DISPLAY.SYS, this is pretty much a convincing evidence that EMM386's
bug is at work here.

I suggest to use FED with 50-line resolution.  Not only will you avoid
the bug, but you will also see a larger display.
