I was actually using gxx.exe from 2.8.1 Please, everybody, when the README file in the new distribution tells you to remove the old distribution *completely*, PLEASE take that at face value and do like it says. This will save you hours of grief. One easy way of uninstalling a package is described in the section 4.8 of the DJGPP FAQ list.
