But I found compiling from Windows DOS mode is faster than pure DOS. I don't know why, but I think It manages memory or something better because I can tell that it works alot harder in DOS but Windows seems to be more efficient. It took me about 30-40 minutes on 486DX2 66 8megs of Ramt to compile Allegro... I also have some advice for people with slow computers is I sugest cutting your C files into smaller seperate chunks (not one function or anything)...I think that was pretty obvious though... from Dan Gold -=-=[CATACOMB ABYSS]=-=- http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Port/1547/ ---------- > From: Michael Stewart > To: djgpp AT delorie DOT com > Subject: Re: allegro compile time > Date: Thursday, July 29, 1999 11:23 PM > > Chewbaklava wrote in message ... > >just wondering, for those of you who use allegro, how long did it take to > >compile for you?? it almost took an hour (just over 50 minutes) for me on > >my 486DX 66. it said in the readme go do something else while it compiles > >but this seems WAY too long. > > > Allegro is a big project and it will take a few minutes, but it does sound > to me that 50 minutes is a little long.
