Did you check your system configuration against the recommendations in 
section 3.9 of the FAQ?  If you have, this time might well be about 
right, since 486 is about 10 times slower than a P350.

You might want to compare the compilation speed with the numbers cited in 
section 7.1 of the FAQ, and check out some of the advice there.
