I use 95 - but I run DJGPP in a normal Win DOS box - there is an option in the properties for a DOS box to increase the environment size - this is what you need to stop the "too many parameters" error. You are overwriting the path param due to an insuffiecient environment. I think DJGPP should work just fine under 98 dos boxes.
