Eli Zaretskii has previously answered in a posting that __dpmi_int() can be used to obtain the relevant information from DOS. With no luck I searched Ralph Brown's interrupt list for a useful function. Even if I find one, I'm not quite sure how to use it. So some hints are welcome if you know how to do this. Thanks in advance!
