Both Windows and bad hardware can cause random violence (read: crashes). If
it occurs again, I'd shut down Windows and see if it still crashes. If not,
it's Windows, if it does crash, it's either your PC's hardware or the
linker (probably the hardware). You could just open up the computer and
commit some random violence of your own: pull some memory out and see if it
helps (not as randomly as the crashes, mind you), or thoughroughly check
your cards, see if they're connected okay & look okay to the naked eye.
Then run a diagnostic testing your system to the limits.
If it only crashes when you're running DJGPP, and never with anything else
(which is hard to imagine with Windows, but still..) it still might be
DJGPP. If so, try to find a pattern in the crashes (does it always crash on
ld, or does it crash on just about anything?) and try to locate the error.
Compiling some heavy code like the compiler itself may help in causing it
to crash - if you really want to find out what the problem is.. I'd go for
the heavy diagnostics, but you could try some other systematic approach..
