I'm not a complete newbie in game programming, but I am something of a newbie in C++ (but I still know a number of other languages, so maybe I'll be of use anyway). Still, I'd like to know what Ed asked (or rather: the answers) and wether you have any specific things in mind (as in: what kind of game do you want to be programming here? Real-time kill 'm all (like tombraider), or (the other extreme) chess-like play-by-E-mail multiplayer strategy (like VGA Planets, if you've ever heard of it), or somewhere in between? Greetz!
