The program I wrote ran on my Windows 95 PC boot to MS-DOS mode only and use cwsdmi.exe to run in protected mode. It works fine on my MMX desktop. I ran the same program in HP OMNI BOOK 800CT MMX (boot to MS dos mode and use cwsdpmi.exe) and after the first run, the file system is corrupted and a few clusters were reported by scandisk as having physical damage. Uncovinced, I tried running it on a second OMNI BOOK 800CT and after a few runs, the c:\windows and the subdirectories disappear and scandisk also reported that the some clusters have physical damage. The program also uses milisecond timing routine from PCTimer14 (Chih-Hao Tsai). My question is : is it possible for a program to cause physical error on the harddisk (at least as detected by scan disk) ? I would appreciate any comments. Thank you. Suryani.
