I would expect some > README file in the source distribution to explain the necessary steps. One such file is indeed thoughtfully included in the source distribution. It's called djconfig.sh. It helped the configure script run to its completion. There's another file called makefile.dj2, which is meant to be run with a plain "make -f makefile.dj2".
