I can't get it to compile, though. I'm sure it's something simple and I suspect that I need to link some libraries, but still being kind of new to commandline compilers (as opposed to IDE's), I'm in need of a little guidance. Before I get into that though, we should probably establish that WSock is what I want: I'm writing a utility that I want to be able to attempt retrieval of web pages, and take specific actions based on the return codes (like 404- not found). I want this utility to be from a commandline because I'm hoping to port it to Linux, OS/2 and MacOS. (I'm also trying to become proficient in commandline compilers.) The initial version is being written in DJGPP, and is intended to run under W95 (and possibly NT). My current enviroment is a LAN with a T1 connection to the 'net, so I'll start with that. Eventually, I'd like it to work with dial-up access as well. (I assume that is somewhat different?) Any help would be greatly appreciated- even if it's only to point me in the direction of a book or some web pages. - Shawn
