I don't know much about programming (I'm still just learning C++), but many problems are caused because people are using gnu stuff converted to windows. This not only makes it more complex, but also brings up compatibility problems, like with the platform sdk.... What would it take to create a new set of tools designed in windows for windows, which would use all the microsoft libraries and headers and stuff, being completely compatible, like MSVC++, yes you lose the unix/linux side, but if you just want to make win32 stuff, it all just gets in the way? Even Mingw32 comes with its own "modified" stuff. This may be a really stupid question, but I was just curious why no one makes a free genuine, windows development system? In a way it might actually be easier to start clean than have all these problems...? Just curious...
