Is this true of: a) A 16 bit program? (Pacific C) b) A 32 bit program? (DJGPP (gcc)) c) Does this make a difference? The same article stated that an unsigned variable :3; was about 50% precent slower than a standard int (4 bytes, 32 bits) and about 200% slower than a long.
