BASH works well without command.com except, of course, when I exit, then DOS finds command.com someplace. I have no reason at present to run BASH without command.com except as an experiment. What I would like to do for the moment is just IMITATE what you do with this. So just so I am sure, you prefer as a rule to run BASH over command.com, right? It's important to me. Sometime later maybe this won't seem to be such a silly question. Ralph
