My main target was to to some c++ programming with the Win32 API function and the GUI wof window. I downloaded Cygwin 32 environment. Installation was quite easy. Working with it I found impossible. The thing they throw you in is a BASH (Bourne Again Shell) wich might be used to UNIX and LINUX users, but not to me. Looking FAQ, READMES, INFOS, is very nice to find information about a special parameter of a special tool, but not at all to make a start with it if you are a newbie. I downloaded RSXNTDJ. The instructions for installing I found quite easy. Whe I compiled there where missing libraraies. Hopefully looking the FAQ-> nope. Looking this group for 4 days. Ahhh. You have to make some undocumented changes in the specs. Uhh: C compiling is working, but C++ o's can't be linked. This problem is still unresolved. So my opinion is: Would be very nice if it would be possible. If anyone successfully set up one of the platforms for compiling a c++ source working together with the Win32 API I would be very interested in taking contact. Uwe
