I downloaded vim51d32.zip [notice the d]--curiously the d file also includes the executables. And I did not have to compile!! I believe this is the latest version. This version (there are hundreds) is for DOS 32-bit protected mode. It works just fine with BASH--seems bullet-proof. I don't want to knock Elvis (looks like a very good vi), but I think this one is for me. If you have not visited the site in a while, it is really rich. You might want to look in.
