The two insults in point are NOT equal. Telling someone that he/she is spreading misinformation is not a profanity, it is an opinion. You might disagree with that opinion, in which case your reply could explain why do you disagree. If you think that ``spreading misinformation'' is too strong for the case, you could also point that out in your reply. But using profane language is another matter altogether. It doesn't help the exchange of ideas, which is what this forum is all about. You will never be able to tell anything useful if you use profanity, since nobody will see anything BUT the d-word. > I can hardly expect someone who > is old enough to be reading this newsgroup, never having heard a harsh word > before. If you were insulted by the reply, just say so. Most of the people who post here will only insult inadvertently, and you will almost always get an immediate apology. Please keep in mind that this is an international forum, and when two people talk across half the globe, misunderstandings are a fact of life. But insulting in return by using profane language will never get you anywhere. > Please feel free to discuss what a nasty person I am. This issue is off-topic here. We don't usually discuss anybody in person. Personally, I think this is inappropriate to discuss somebody's personality.
