IMHO, gcc beat all this Borland,MsVisual, Watcom, etc. I agree with it too, but there are some important things to point, the most sad is that M$, Watcom and Intel compilers generates better Pentium code (and even better 486 code) than gcc. (Look comparissons in Byte articles, download the sources, compile it and make your own comparissons).
