I think it was like that: 1) You runned your EXE debugging. 2) Your EXE crashed with a signal. 3) You fixed the offending code and recompiled. 4) You tried to debug again. 5) RHIDE gone to DOS. Step (2) can be a Ctrl+F2 too in a part of the program that lets the machine in a strange state (like an Allegro program because it doesn't shut down Allegro). If that your case then I saw it before but I can find a pattern for it, looks like a random thing. I even saw it under Linux. Looks like sometimes if a program doesn't end correctly and you remake it and debug again something goes very wrong.
