I am going to set up a new, comprehensive DJGPP information site, hopefully for DJGPP what www.gamelan.com is for Java (or was for Java). I was thinking that maybe people would be interested in giving something back to the DJGPP community, by means of a NON-PROFIT comprehensive Support site, comtaining Links to other sites, Tutorials, messages from this newsgroup that are of particular interest, a Web chat board, a JavaChat area, articles on help, etc.., and it could even host the sites of DJGPP projects such as library development. Basically a DJGPP-one-stop-internet-shop. Many people have tried to do this, but it would be very difficult to undertake single handedly. Thats why I'm looking for volunteers. But first, I must say that this site would not be fully up until around June or July, because I'm in a very important exam year now, and have limited time to spend on such a project. Personnally, I come from a HTML backround. I did lots of HTML design, and then went into Java. I kind of stopped Java for a while 'cause I needed time to study. But then I wanted to do c/c++ so found DJGPP. I'm not a particularaly good programmer (yet, at least) but I think I could certainly make a lasting contribution to the community. One last major thing is Web Serving. I have essentially unlimited web space, but at an inconvenient URL (http://indigo.ie/~etadhg/). I also don't have a CGI bin, which would be critical to a decent site. So I was wondering If anyone would host/know someone who would host the site for free. What I really need from a server point of view is: a CGI-Bin with Server Side Includes (SSI) an Anonymous FTP site where people could upload files anonymously.. a virtual server (we could use a monolith domain, eg http://djgpp.ml.org/ for free, so we don't have to worry about domains.) Please take into account that this would be completly NON-PROFIT, but, perhaps a server would host us in exchange for being allowed to put up banner ads and collecting revenu from that, I think that would be acceptable, especially since the site would probable attract large amount of visitors once it got off the ground. The kind of volunteers are specifically: CGI-Scripters/programmers with experience. HTML Authors with experience Graphics Designers Content contributors and Just about anyone who thinks they could make ANY contribution to the site. If you are interested in giving something back to the community, please e-mail me back. But PLEASE DO NOT SEND FILES as I don't have much mail-space! If you prefer to use more secure communication methods, my PGP public key is available via : http://indigo.ie/~etadhg/Niall.asc Yours Hopefully, Niall O' Higgins
