I hunted around some on the internet, and I may have found and installed a better version of ld somewhere. When I do 'ld -v' it says something like 'ld 2.8.1 with BFD 2.8.1'. You might look for something called BFD .... I don't remember where I got it, maybe at the pentium compiler group site or some other egcs site. I might have just installed it over djgpp on my DOS machine. I agree that this would not be a nice problem to have as a permanent feature of one's development environment. Let's hope that there's a good remedy out there soon. Al
