You have the question the wrong way round.  The correct question is when
will gcc 2.8 be ported to DJGPP.  The answer is that it already has
been!  Download gcc280b.zip, gpp280b.zip, and lgpp280b.zip from the
v2gnu directory of SimTel and off you go!  We recommend deleting your
old 2.7.2 installation before installing 2.8.0.

There is currently a bug in exception support in DJGPP that causes
exceptions to fail with gcc 2.8.0.  Patched files should be available
soon.
