Either you unzipped the distribution with a program which doesn't support long file names, or you should set LFN=y in the environment. (This is all described in the README.dos file which comes with the package, btw.) The above assumes that you tried to run Emacs from Windows 95 DOS box. If this assumption is false, please describe your setup in more detail.
