One of the big advantages of GCC is that it does allow you speficy debugging info when optimizing code. Most native unix compiler respond with something like this. typhoon:temp$ cc -c -g -O hello.c cc: warning 414: Debug and Optimization are mutually exclusive. -O option ignored.
