OpenDOS or now DR-OpenDOS (DR is for Digital Research), can be found at
www.caldera.com.  It is free for non-commercial use.  It comes with a
copy of Personal Netware and it's own DPMI server. You can get the
sources and modify them, or they also have a section on their sight that
talks about programming for the multi-tasking aspect of the DPMI.
