In fact, I just confirmed it. It's interesting to note that even DOS 7's Edit does not interfere with tabs that are already in a file; it just won't put them in by itself. If you're going to do serious programming in DJGPP, though, I recommend using one of the excellent IDEs that are available. Both RHIDE and Emacs use real tabs (and have lots of other useful features besides).
