Firstly, at risk of stating the obvious, I would just like to say that I am very grateful for D.J.'s generosity and hard work, and his non-commercial viewpoint. Also, it seems that it would be easy enough to simply buy a commercial compiler if the GPL is a problem. Unless I'm missing something, the main reason to want to avoid distribution of the source code to a program is the protection of financial interests in that program, so commercial would be the way to go--pay to play--give a little, get a little. Otherwise, share a little.
