The key thing here is that inline assembler code for DJGPP must be in the appropriate format, with AT&T syntax, and needs to comply with the requirements of 32-bit protected mode. Stated more positively, DJGPP has a great facility for inline assembly, but code produced for other compilers/assemblers may need various alternations to compile successfully and run as intended. Incidentally, people who prefer Intel to AT&T assembler syntax may want to try alternatives such as NASM (for external assembly) or conversion utilities, also mentioned in the FAQ.
