I've discovered that the computer that I'm running the program on does support mode 3. If I run the program in DOS mode, shutting down Windows first, the text looks fine in mode 3h. Also, if I run the text mode portions of the program in a window, the text looks fine, and then if I hit alt+enter to restore it to full screen, the text still looks fine. It's only when the program is already running full screen that the text looks messed up, it's mostly made up of squares. (BTW, using set_gfx_mode(GFX_TEXT, 80, 25, 0, 0) as someone suggested did not change this at all). Do you have any idea what could be doing this? I assume it's something about Windows or DirectX (I have the latest version of DirectX).
