Message-ID: Date: 6 Oct 97 12:40:21 -0500 Organization: Tennessee Tech University Lines: 27 NNTP-Posting-Host: gemini.tntech.edu To: djgpp AT delorie DOT com DJ-Gateway: from newsgroup comp.os.msdos.djgpp Precedence: bulk I've been attempting to get started in Windows programming. I've run into problems choosing a compiler becuase I'm still using Win3.1. I want to be able to write programs for Win32s. (this started out as a project to write a simple happy birthday program for a friend at west point) DJGPP w/ RSXNT seems to be my only choice for writing programs, which is fine with me, but I have only one problem. Even simple "Hello world!" programs rely upon RSXNT.DLL in order to run. Is there a way around this? I'm new to both windows programming and C, but I am experienced with pascal, fortran, and some assembly. It seems the necessary functions could be linked into the program, leaving the others out and ending this dependancy, but I'm not sure how. Forgive me if there is a simple answer to this question in the RSXNT docs; my unfamiliarity has made it difficult to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm not so much concerned with "how" as I am with "is it possible" although some direction would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice.
