I tried PGCC, and it produced slower executables (for my very specific application) than DJGPP, using similar switches. By the same token, egcs benchmarks run under Linux show strong performance improvements for certain kinds of floating point code -- I'm estimating about a factor of two for our codes. It would be nice to do some of the development on available DOS machines, then transfer the source over to Linux for predictable performance...
