I've just read FAQ section 15.8 which talks all about system, and tried it on djgpp for myself. System gives just as much memory as spawn (sorry o the original poster! guess I can't help you...) The system() problem I encountered must have related to just my Borland Compiler (expensive heap of %$%#.. still takes up 50Mb of HD space on CD run install. At least it is alright for making Windows apps, though. But I hate Windows too, so it really seems a waste of money.
