Inconceivable, but nevertheless true.  RMS did write Emacs AND gcc AND
make (and gdb, and a few other packages).  He doesn't maintain any of
them except Emacs anymore, but the first versions are his.  Look at
the ChangeLog entries in the source distributions if you don't
believe.
