The current version of readme.1st does, however, locate that info below a very long list of files most of which you don't need, and this is somewhat counter-intuitive. Regarding rebooting after changing the autoexec.bat: that isn't actually necessary. Just manually run from the command line each line you added. I.e., insert the set djgpp and path %path%;blah blah bin lines into autoexec.bat, save the changes and exit whatever editor, then type the same two lines at the C:\> prompt. -- .*.
