I've installed the recommended files into c:\djgpp. I've added \djgpp\bin to the path in my autoexec.bat and also set DJGPP=c:\djgpp\djgpp.env. The environment file is there and I cannot see anything wrong with it. I've also downloaded and installed the emacs distributions that comes with the djgpp distribution. It sits in c:\djgpp\gnu\emacs\bin. (1) EMACS seemed to work fine until I added the line in my autoexec.bat to set the variable DJGPP. Now nothings happens when I try to run EMACS. I've tried running the EMACS.EXE file in the \bin and also the PIF file in the \msdos directory. In MS-DOS mode, nothing happens at all. In Windows, a DOS box opens and then immediately closes. EMACS runs okay again if I rem out the line in my autoexec.bat that sets the DJGPP variable. (2) Also, I cannot get GCC to find the C++ headers. It finds C headers (I tried stdio.h) but not iostream.h. I've read the sections in the manual. I've checked the file and it's sitting in the \djgpp\lang\cxx\ subdirectory. I have not edited the djgpp.env file and have restored it a couple of times from the .zip file. I've tried the source file with a .cc extension and a .cpp extension and tried using the -x c++ command line switch. It's when I added the set DJGPP=c:\djgpp\djgpp.env line to my autoexec.bat that EMACS stopped working. The file I've been trying to include is just iostream.h. The only thing that I have not done is tried to edit my registry for the numeric tail problem, which I don't know anything about and am loath to do. Do I have any other options? Here is the list of my environment variables from set > env.lst: TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP PROMPT=$p$g winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\DJGPP\BIN DJGPP=c:/djgpp/djgpp.env LMOUSE=C:\MOUSE windir=C:\WINDOWS BLASTER=A220 I2 D1 H6 T6 Thanks for any help.
