The thing is that Microsoft, as they have with everything else have designed the libs to work perfectly with their compiler, while everyone else has at least a month's headache attempting. They were using DJGPP because they thought it was the best DOS compiler for their uses. Now they are using Mircrosft VC5 (I think) because they can afford to do so, and because it is so much simpler to get technical support for using a Microsoft library with a Microsoft library. I've never used RSXDJNT, so I do not mean to express any opinion of it at all. If DirectDraw works perfectly with it, that's fine, but I don't think iD had time to make the gamble. -Thomas
