Near pointers seem to be the fastest technique though. I stated the disadvantages and advantages, as well. With far pointers there's too much going on behind your bank (Intel shadow registers and all that). For video, I just find them WAY to slow. I noticed an incredible gain with near pointers. So much that I feel the disadvantages are far outweighed my the advantages. Feel free to make your our opinions. I only claim to know what I find out myself.
