Can you use it for Shareware?, I guess No >and No. You can't use MIDAS for shareware either without getting a separate license. Shareware programs are really quite problematic for us: In most cases, the programs never even get completed, or maybe sell a total of 10 registrations or something. Then again, Doom was shareware. For the first case, letting people use MIDAS for free in shareware programs would make sense, as there isn't really any money involved. In the Doom case, however, there really isn't any difference between shareware and commercial programs, except that the shareware program would bring better royalties to the developers. We are trying to decide what to do about shareware licenses in the near future, but things are a bit on hold about that for the moment. We get quite a few requests for MIDAS licenses for a "crap shareware game that probably won't sell anything", and are trying to figure out what to do about them. Check back in a couple of weeks or so. Meanwhile, I suggest everybody developing such a program to consider just releasing it as free software - you'll save yourself a lot of headaches, and get a lot more satisfied users. As for Allegro support, MIDAS really won't like Allegro messing up with the timer. I have to agree this is not too user-friendly, especially as MIDAS requires Allegro for the IRQ wrappers :) I'll probably add an Allegro timer mode at some point, which would use the Allegro timer functions for the music playback timing, but I don't know when I'll have time to work on that.
