Always an option. Indeed. Personally I'd be quite happy with this, but then I'm interested in both djgpp and Allegro material. I suspect that most Allegro users don't mind it being discussed here, but I agree that a lot of the questions that have recently come up are a long way off topic for this group, and would be more appropriate somewhere else. One worry I have about the creation of a new 'djgpp.games' type group is that there would be massive crossposting between it and this: I think if such a group is created, part of the charter should be that it is not appropriate to crosspost between it and comp.os.msdos.djgpp. > Do nothing except direct Allegro material to rec.games.programmer IMHO a very bad idea: Allegro issues are probably even further off topic there than they are here, and certainly a lot less likely to get a helpful answer. > Someone volunteers to host an Allegro-specific mailing list. I think this could be quite useful regardless of whether or not a new group is created, but I don't have the resources to organise it myself, so there isn't much point discussing it unless/until someone offers to host it. > Newgroup comp.os.msdos.djgpp.games. Thumbs up. I'd be very happy with this... > Newgroup comp.os.msdos.djgpp.allegro. Nah. If there was an Allegro group, it shouldn't be part of a djgpp hierarchy. Sure, Allegro and djgpp are inseparable at the moment, but it would be a mistake to choose a name that would conflict with any future ports to other platforms. Personally I'd much prefer a djgpp.games group to an Allegro one, but if there was to be such a group I think it should be titled something like comp.api.allegro. -- Shawn Hargreaves - shawn AT talula DOT demon DOT co DOT uk - http://www.talula.demon.co.uk Beauty is a French phonetic corruption of a short cloth neck ornament
