Had a look at grx20/src/mouse/bldcurs.c and it looks to me that you can specifiy which cursor line will display: pitch lines 0 1st, 1st, 1st, ... 1 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, ... 2 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, ... Setting pitch to zero should restore the old behaviour.
