I must say, this list and most of the people on it are an example of the wonderful way in which research and development can and should be done. I have only much praise for DJ Delorie, Shawn Hargreaves, Robert Hoehne, Eli Zaretskii, and the many others who have produced such high quality products for all to use. I do not understand those who harp and moan, or use profanity in some vain attempt to make a point. Lately there has been some of this on the list and let me tell you, those who do this stick out like a turd in a punchbowl to be quite honest. I for one have read the faqs, performed the suggested steps, and have built from source Dflat, Allegro and all demos/examples, Rhide, Emacs, and a variety of GNU utilities without hitch on a 486/33 with only 4mb of memory (this computer was built entirely of junk and throwaway parts for a total cost of 64 bucks). The faqs and other documentation are a goldmine and really do work! I don't have 7 - 800 bucks to shell out for Borland or MS Visual C/C++! And now that I have used DJGPP I would'nt buy that other stuff if it cost $5.00! My point is this, Lets keep this list friendly and professional as it is most of the time. Thanks. -- David T.
