As much as I am a fan of free software and don't mind contributing myself, I still have very large disagreements with some of the philosophies of Dr. Stallman and the FSF in general...ie: that there is no such thing as intellectual property. If I work 18 months on code or 18 months digging a ditch, I ought to get paid for it (if it's something that people want). If I am willing to do the work for free, then thats fine, but it should be the choice of the person who did the work. Last time I looked, quake was still consumer product for sale. Mr. Abrash has given much free stuff away, I think he has a right to make as much money as he can or wants to make on quake and anything else he creates. How much is too much? That is a moral question that only Mr. Abrash can answer for himself. At least that is my opinion. -- David T.
