If a multi-volume archive is created using GNU tar on a UNIX box (i. e. with 'tar cvfM /dev/fd0H1440 files_that_needed' on Linux) and than unpacked using djtar, archive contents seemed to be completely broken. Note, that after that UNIX tar unpacked files without any problems (well, I had expirience, that my multi-volume archive had broken between two the same versions of GNU tar on Linux, but it seems to be irrelevant to THIS behavour of djtar).
