I tried 'cat' and got: Symbol's function definition is void: start-process The Message buffer also mentions: Invoking man cat in the background I'm used to Unix land and only started messing with djgpp's emacs this past couple of weeks. I imagine DOS can't handle the multi-tasking. The same happens with ispell and shell. Any idea if running emacs off of djgpp's Bash will fix that? There's couple of options mentioned in the FAQ and see I'll what works best. Thanks for the reply, --Joe
