BCD worked fine for me too.  I think the reason you can lock the CD is so
that the user can't, say, pop the CD out in the middle of a track, or in
the middle of your game/program/whatever :)  Might be useful for fooling
users into thinking their CD drive is busted ;)  (not recommended though)
