I ran rhide on my 486 DX2S-66 with a slow 1.15 Mb/s Hard drive and 8 meg ram, I reduced the ram down to 450K free extended and 600K low dos free (using a little utility I made called "glut"... and then ran rhide, sure It was slow, but the intro/splash still came up in about 1.5 seconds... and I was loaded in about 2.5 seconds and this included loading up about 400K of files (admitedly scrolling down the files sent the machine into a state of performance equal to an xt) could it be a problem with his dpmi client ??? cwsdpmi or similar, as Rhide seems to run fast even on 386's ? also, is he using a standard screen mode, some Oak svga cards (old ones) when using extended modes i.e 132x43 mode have a very slow screen output rate for some unknown reason, because I thought rhide used direct memory access... -- //// /'^'\ \\\\ (\0-0/) //// /----------------------------------oOOOO--(_)--OOOOo--\ | Alex Henderson a.k.a Suma (@@=@) Twins Software NZ | | email: Suma@@xtra.co.nz !!no junk!!
