You need to tell it to link with the C++ libs--try gcc junk.cc -lgpp
(You may want to throw in some optimization too... :-) )

libcref.i is obsolete.  As for the other files, two things:
(1) did you put them in the right directories?
(2) Did you get _just_ the .txi's?  If so, you need to run makeinfo
on them to get the .infs needed by info.exe.
