As a teacher, I use this book and I find it very good. I even recommend it to anybody that wants to learn the basics and tricks of CG. About SRGP, it runs over UNIX/X11, DOS/DJGPP+GRX, DOS/BC, Windows and Mac -- it is really a nice and easy to use portable library, and it is reasonably efficient. SRGP has served as a basis for other academics packages like SPHIGS (a simplified PHIGS -- 3D graphics library), SUIT (an user interface toolkit) and others. SPHIGS and SUIT have also been "ported" to DJGPP+GRX. To learn about the details, look at asterix.inescn.pt in dir pub/PC/devel -- that's the site where I have put all these packages. Hope it helps.
