I installed djgpp on my PC 486 and it works very good ! All the important things I wanted it to do went without any problem ! Then I installed the additional contribution : the grx-library (libgrx) and found that all test programs work without any problem too. Very positive. Then I found the graphics package : VOGL which I know because I installed it on a RS6000 years ago ( This IBM-machine wasn't easy to handle at that time....). NOW : the djgpp-gcc compiled everyting without any problems,... not a single warning etc. All libraries were created and I set the environment variables : HFONTLIB und VDECIVE. With VDEVICE=grx the sample programs do not work at all. The sreen gets first cleared and then things like this appear on the screen : eax=0000004c ebx=7fffe757 ...(2 lines of this stuff) call frame traceback EIPS: 0x00013140 ...... .....(more of these cryptic stuff) Then I am back at the cursor. Hmm. I don't know what to do next. The relevant part of my environment setting in the autoexec.bat looks like this : Relevant part of my Environment setting in autoexec.bat -------------------------------------------------------- COMPILER_PATH=d:/djgpp/bin C_INCLUDE_PATH=d:/djgpp/include CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=d:/djgpp/cplusinc;d:/djgpp/include OBJC_INCLUDE_PATH=d:/djgpp/include;d:/djgpp/include/objc OBJCPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=d:/djgpp/include;d:/djgpp/include/objc LIBRARY_PATH=d:/djgpp/lib INFOPATH=d:/djgpp/docs;d:/djgpp/docs/djgpp TMPDIR=c:/tmp GO32TMP=c:/tmp GO32=ansi driver d:/djgpp/drivers/vga.grd gw 1024 gh 768 GRXFONT=d:\djgpp\contrib\libgrx\fonts MANPATH=c:\usr VDEVICE=grx HFONTLIB=d:\gnuish\vogl\hershey\src\lib\hershey ----------------------------------------------------- There is one more curious thing about this : When I run the testprogram tmesh and answer the 3 questions (Backfacing ON Y/N) (Fill polygons Y/N) (double buffering Y/N) all with Yes, then this testprogram works. Do I answer with No, then it behaves like all the others with the frustrating response described above. Any help is appreciated ! Thanks in advance for replies. Norman -- Dr. Norman Fahrer
