From: David Dix To: djgpp AT sun DOT soe DOT clarkson DOT edu Subject: PC-NFS, DVX and DJGPP Date: Tue, 3 May 1994 12:03:51 +0100 (BST) Hi all, Has anyone experienced problems with GO32 running in a DOS session under Desqview/X? I have been attempting to get to the source of this one for 2 weeks now and have traced the problem down to an interaction with all 3 programs (PC-NFS, DVX & GO32). If I have PC-NFS running, but not DVX and try to compile a program using DJGPP everything is fine :-) If I have DVX running, but not PC-NFS and try to compile a program in a DOS session (with 500K of real memory) everything works fine :-) If I have PC-NFS running and DVX (v2.0) and try to compile using DJGPP in a DOS session the machine hangs :-( After much investigation I have found that I always get an "Invalid instruction" exception at the same address in the PC-NFS driver. I have tried moving the driver to low memory, excluding many areas of the high memory using QEMM and removing all unnecessary TSR's. I have tried all combinations of TSR's and driver's, I have tried running thru the EX13FLOW technote from Quarterdeck, I have tried everything I can think of now and have not had any success :-() If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. The versions of the software I am running are as follows: PC-NFS v5.0b DVX v2.0 QEMM v7.04 DJGPP v1.11m5 DOS v5.0 | David Dix : Specialix Research Ltd. | | Senior Software Engineer _ : Suite 2, Cobb House, 2 Oyster Lane, | | [o] : Byfleet, Surrey KT14 7DU, England | | davidd AT specialix DOT co DOT uk /| : Phone: +44 932 352251 Fax: +44 932 352349 |
